Farm Chicks or BUST

I am very lucky to live where I live. Spokane Washington is a beautiful place, at least it USUALLY is. Our spring and summer months are two of the reasons why I love living here. This year our spring has been really wet and COLD! June has come in with a crazy amount of rain. So feeling inspired by nature to create something bright and beautiful, hasn't really happened for me yet.

A third reason I love living in the pacific northwest is the amazing creative people who call this area home. Contributing editor for Country Living Magazine & creative genius of The Farm Chicks, Serena blows my mind with her down home business style. Mary of Mary Lou and Cherries too, makes the most beautiful quilts, fabrics and idea inspiring quilting books. Ari of Buttercuppity, owner of the cutest fabric store in Spokane whose talent makes you stop and take notice. I know two of these creative women personally and can honestly say they are beautiful inside and out, will do whatever they can to help you feel inspired and genuinely wish the best for you.

With that being said, this weekend June 5th-6th at the Spokane County Fairgrounds The Farm Chicks show has brought together so many of the awesome creative talent from near and far to inspire all of us in our homes, lives and friendships. If you have the chance and live locally, you should try to go. You'll be amazed at the beauty you will see, the treasures you will find and walk away with the belief that you too can be a creative genius.

See ya at the show!

Easter Treats

Shesh, really? Am I this bad at keeping up to date on my blog?! Um, yeah. I don't know any other way around it than to be honest. So again, I am sorry it's been so long. The last quarter of school really took up A LOT of my time as I am now looking for a job. Who knew the job search was really THAT bad? Apparently I didn't! Hello....earth to Heather?

Back to crafting. I have had a few more days to create things. And I will be putting up those post as well. But today it is all about Easter. I love making yummy holiday treats for my niece and nephews. Today was no different. As they get older I need to make my yummies for them age appropriate and just as special as they are. After cruising a few blogs last night I found some awesome ideas. It's from the most wonderful blog All the Small Things. This is one UBER creative lady. So head on over to her blog and see what sparks your creative brain.
I combined a couple of her ideas into one from her post "From Grocery Store Blah to Easter TA DA!" I made the tags using Punch Box Designer Label set from Stampin' Up! It was such a cheep gift idea too.
Break Down:

My roommate (check her out at Creative Entertaining) and I decided to make the yummy Krispy treats that you've been seeing on the T.V. We made half eggs so they laid well and I made full eggs covered with baking chips and decorated for my niece and nephews individually. It was a ton of fun and totally easy as pie....I mean treat?! Plus.....cheep, cheep, cheep;-)

The halfsies

Butterflies for my niece.

Stripes for my oldest nephew.

All-in-all it was a pretty calm Easter with good food, a fun family, lots of love and a great celebration for Jesus. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter.

Handmade Holiday GIfts 2009

I love Christmas and LOVE helping people have a great Christmas. This year was going to be tough on my budget but I know how to shop for great deals, make my dollar stretch and use my personal creative skills.

Saving money and finding (or making) gifts on a super small budget for family and friends this year was my main goal. I was lucky to find gifts for my niece and nephews under $10. And made gifts for them under $12.00. I ended up making 3 Christmas stockings, 2 pairs of lazy butt pants, 7 Healing Hearts, one arm chair remote control holder and 2 sets of large wall letters.

I used a boys and mens sized pattern to make the lazy butt pants. I ended up only using the boy sizes. They were very true to size and easy to make. I knitted the stockings using circle looms and came up with the way to do it. I tried using the pattern and it just backfired on me. LOL...I never could follow the rules I've always had to make up my own;) I made the Healing Heart and rectangle Healing pack out of scrap fabric.

All in all, the gifts were fairly easy to make, were fun to make and were enjoyed by all.
This week I have started to make my Valentine cupcake wall hanging. I hope you all had a great Christmas holiday and have a great New Year. See ya in 2010!

Turkey Day 2009

I just wanted to wish everyone a joyful and blessed Thanksgiving.

I am so thankful for my family, friends, being of sound body and mind. I cannot tell you how happy I am to have, yet another, holiday with my dad. What a great gift to be given, the gift of life. He amazes me everyday with his strength despite a bleak future. Thanks be to God most high:-)! Please continue to pray for him.

I leave next friday for my first half-marathon. YIKES! I have been sick so who knows what to expect. I am just hoping to finish the race under 4 hours. I will be walking the entire 13.1 miles up and down the Strip. It could be worse, it could always be worse;-)

Again, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Tinker and Cruella

Better late than never, right?! Here are the fun 2009 Halloween costumes that I made. I was Crella and my BFF was Tinkerbell.

For my costume I already owned the dress and shoes. I purchased the hair color, the red gloves, puppy purse and necklace. I sewed the fur on the gloves, made the fake cig holder and the puppy print shawl.

My BFF was Tinkerbell. I made the entire dress, jacket, puff balls and purse from hand. We glitterfied her shoes, purchased the wings and wand. I think she makes the perfect Tink:)
